Hidden Curiosities Gin was created by Cravat Club director Jenny, who - after extensive research sampling nigh on 100 different craft gins over the course of a year - dedicated her time and passion to develop a unique recipe with a very distinctive character. ...
Working very closely with a local yet renowned distillery in the Surrey Hills who carried the right expertise for this exciting new project, Jenny was able to perfect and fine-tune her recipe in order to produce the specific result she had in mind. Using their magnificent hand-built 350 litre copper still, charismatically powered by a wood fired steam boiler, her first batch of Hidden Curiosities gin was born.
The botanicals Jenny uses are:
Juniperberries (of course) spices of 5 distinctive peppercorns including pink peppercorn, grains of paradise and cubeb green cardamom Japanese yuzu pink grapefruit bergamot lime white mulberries violet lavender
N: starts with a light cereal fragrance and a bit liquorice, cardamom, juniper and some fresh citrus notes.
T: A sweet start developing to spicy mid palate. Once you get through the spices, the fruity citrus/grapefruit kicks in. after a while, cardamom get’s into the play, in close collaboration with light anise.
F: The finish is medium long with lavender and it ends spicy and dry with a little sweet undertone.
◾Gin & Tonic◾
Our recommended serve is made with a Thomas Henry tonic or an AQ Monaco tonic, combined with a few cardamom pods and a slice of blood orange.
A well made spicy gin with a citrus/cardamom twist that will convince you as it did me.
Therefore it scores a nice shiny Golden Medal of 93/100 !
