Tarquin's Cornish Crocus lim edition .

Today we shine our light on the Tarquin’s Cornish Crocus limited edition gin.

This Limited Edition Gin is infused with exotic Cornish Saffron, proudly and uniquely grown by the Cornish Saffron Company.

Originally thought to have been introduced to the UK by the Phoenicians in the 14th Century, it was traded in Cornwall in exchange for local tin and copper. It began to be grown around the county until the industry faded out with the last recorded saffron field being sold in Penryn around the end of the 19th Century.

Brian and Margaret Eyers, modern day "Crocurs" are reviving this historic Cornish industry. They grow 20,000 crocus flowers for their saffron on the Roseland Peninsula, overlooking the stunning Gerrans Bay.

Planting, harvesting and plucking the stigmas from the flowers all by hand.

This collaboration is a celebration of local, small-scale producers and their dedication to cultivating some of the finest produce Cornwall has to offer.

The result adds a distinct yellow/orange hue to the gin that, when combined with rose petals and pistachio, adds a middle eastern twist to this Cornish Gin.

Master distiller Tarquin Leadbetter has spared no expense on the exotic botanicals used in this gin with saffron costing an eye watering £40 a gram - more than gold even!

Equipped with his two traditional copper stills that are heated by a naked flame, it's no wonder that Tarquin has become the self made gin wizard of Cornwall and very possibly the UK and as you should already know we are a big fan of Leadbetter’s Creations!

One of our personal perfect serves is made with a Thomas Henry tonic and this in combination with a small peel of orange and a small twig of lemon vervain.

◾Score: 90/100◾

And so he scores a beautiful gold GinUrWay medal!
