Kalevala Gin

Kalevala small batch distilled Gin

Finland (by Northern Light Spirits)

Kalevala Gin is handcrafted in small batches in easternmost Finland, an area renowned for a history of producing fine spirits. All ingredients used are organic and even the water comes from their own well, situated just next to the distillery. The exact recipe of the gin remains a secret, but to name a few mint, rosemary, rose bud, sea buckthorn and raspberry leaf add to the essential flavour of juniper.

The maceration and distillation process are done with care over a period of two days. The preservative distillation process alone takes more than 12 hours. Each batch produces only some 500 bottles of the finest gin, each bottle numbered individually after inspection.

BOTANICALS

Rosemary

Juniper berries

Mint

Raspberry leaf

Sea Buckthorn Berries

Gin&Tonic

For my personal perfect serve I use the Franklin & sons tonic and as garnish I use a Zallotti blossom in combination with some lime wedges.

A Zallotti Blossom is a decorative sprig with several small purple flowers. It comes from the African basil plant and has a strong flavour of basil combined with mint.

Conclusion:

If you are just as me into “earthy” gin with a fruity twist this Kalevala will be your cup of tea.

Score:

89/100

And so it just doesn’t got a golden medal but there is more to come from Kalevala and maybe ……..
