GemBlue Gin.

◾GemBlue Gin◾

Belgium (by Distal)

GemBlue Gin is another product that emerges directly from the Belgian creator’s imagination, Thierry Van Renterghem. He is also known for the development of Cosmik Pure Diamond Vodka, which was awarded three times. GemBlue Gin is derived from a first malted barley maceration and fermented rye, which is distilled a first time. Afterwards, they add juniper berry, lime peel and cucumber in order to proceed with a second distillation. This second distillation gives the smoothness to this beverage. GemBlue is distilled in collaboration with a french distillery and every single bottle is filled, labelled and packed by hand in Gembloux (Belgium). The creators thought that for such a high quality product, they had to find a bottle that perfectly fits. That’s why, to honour this precious beverage, they choose a massive bottle, that weighs 2 kg when it’s filled. The label, made of tin, is a tribute to their hometown, Gembloux.

Juniper

Cucumber Lime zest The perfect serve that we recorded is with a San Pellegrino old tonic. The garnish that we used are 2 small lime wedges in combination with a small basil branch. This combination puts the highlight on the juniper and so you got a nice dry/pure G&T.

My score of this Gemblue gin is: ◾ Score: 89/100 ◾

I gave it a 89 silver medal because for me it’s a little low on abv (40%) I’m convinced that if it was at 44 or even at 46 % abv it would be more aromatic and automatically get a higher score! Maybe even a +90 gold medal!
